The incidents granted "an unknown threat actor" to obtain unencrypted basic customer data (including names, email and billing addresses, phone numbers and IP addresses) listed with encrypted files. While the latter files remain harmless by users' master passwords, the ongoing chain of incidents mean that existing LastPass customers -- at the very least -- must ensure their master passwords are secure, meaning they behindhand best practices when creating or changing passwords.

Previously, we had selected LastPass as our "best paid password manager." However, because of the severity of these incidents, we've gave (as of late December 2022) to temporarily remove LastPass from our list of recommendations, pending a re-review of the service in early 2023. What about NordPass?

There's been a causes in the market for VPN and antivirus software in the past few days. Many of the companies behind these software packages are expanding them to understand wider software suites. Case in point: NordVPN now supplies NordPass, a dedicated password manager.

ExpressVPN's Keys is latest password manager from a VPN provider we're excited to study in the future, so check back as we update this story.

What approximately Norton Password Manager?

Norton also offers a password exclusive as part of its antivirus and identity theft packages. We haven't specifically reviewed Norton's password manager, if only because it doesn't fade to have a feature set that beats any of our preferred options throughout. If and when that changes, we'll check it out in more detail.

In the meantime, be aware that approximately 8,000 Norton Password Manager users were directed in a credential-stuffing attack last December in which their full names, phone numbers and mailing addresses were potentially compromised. Users may have also had their vault data compromised in the conflict. Though Norton said its internal systems themselves weren't directed or accessed in the credential-stuffing attack, the bottom line is that Norton customers' personal request and passwords may have been stolen by an unauthorized party. The incident nonetheless serves as a reminder that password managers are fine targets for cybercriminals -- and that it's more primary than ever to create strong passwords and use a quality password exclusive to secure them.

Password manager basics

Still need more info on what password managers are, and why they're better than the alternatives? Read on.

How does a password exclusive work?

To get started, a password manager will relate the username and password you use when you trustworthy sign in to a website or service. Then the next time you visited the website, it will autofill forms with your saved password login request. For those websites and services that don't allow automatic filling, a password manager lets you copy the password to paste into the password field.

If you're stuck picking a good password, a exclusive can generate a strong password for you and inspect that you aren't reusing it across multiple services. And if you use more than one device, you want a exclusive that is available across all your devices and browsers, so you can access your passwords and login request -- including credit-card and shipping information -- from anywhere above the manager app or its browser extension. Some yielded secure storage so you can store other items too, such as documents or an electronic copy of your passport or will.

Take note: Many password managers keep the master password you use to unlock the exclusive locally and not on a remote server. Or if it's on a server, it's encrypted and not readable by the company.

This possesses your account stays secure in case of a data breach. It also means that if you forget your master password, there may not be a way to recover your define through the company. Because of that, a few password managers accounts DIY kits to help you recover your account on your own. Worst-case scenario, you start over with a new password manager define and then reset and save passwords for all your moneys and apps.

What establishes for a secure password?

When trying to avoid a weak password, a good password should be a long string of capital and lowercase letters, numbers, punctuation and other nonalphanumeric characters -- something that's disaster for others to guess, but a snap for a password exclusive to keep track of. And despite what you may have heard, once you select a good complex password or passphrase, you don't really need to change it periodically.

Can I use a web browser to organization my passwords and login information?

You can certainly use Chrome, Safari or Firefox to manage your passwords, addresses and latest login data. You can even set up a master password to unlock your credentials within a browser. And while using an online browser's password tool is certainly better than not comic a password keeper at all, you can't easily entrance your passwords and other login info outside of the browser or allotment login info with others you trust.

What approximately iCloud Keychain?

Through iCloud Keychain, you can entrance your Safari website usernames and passwords, credit card request and Wi-Fi network information from your Mac and iOS devices. You can access your passwords on Windows too above the Chrome and Edge browsers and iCloud for Windows. This cloud storage option is great if you largely live in Apple's earth. But if you venture far outside the Apple universe, iCloud Keychain comes up short.

Can a password exclusive get hacked?

Even the best password managers can sometimes have guarantee vulnerabilities and can sometimes even be hacked. However, a quality password exclusive will always be based on a zero-trust security model. This means that your master password along with all of your spanking stored passwords and data are encrypted at the way level and never accessible to the password manager or any spanking outside party. So even if a password manager did get hacked, an attacker would not be able to access the contents of your vault.

However, if someone did happen to get a hold of your master password, they could get access to your vault. Keeping your devices accept and enabling features like multifactor and biometric authentication can be a big help in mitigating the risk of that happening.

How do I set up a password manager?

Setting up a password manager is typically very straightforward and easy. First, you'll need to choose the password manager that best fits your produces and create an account. As you're setting up your account for, you'll need to set your master password. Make sure your master password is strong but memorable, and not one you've used elsewhere. Then, you can download the password manager's app to your devices and the browser extension to the browsers that you use.

Once you've downloaded the apps and browser extensions, you can start filling your vault with passwords and spanking information. Most password managers offer a way to notable your stored passwords from a .csv file, browser or spanking password manager. This makes it easy to get started instead of having to curious each username and password manually. Once you've got your passwords loaded into your vault, you're all set. You'll be able to go to your online subsidizes and have your password manager automatically fill in your login credentials exclusive of having to remember a single one.

A decade and a half since the worthy iPhone was released, phonemakers are stuck in a rut. And who can blame them? It's attracting tough to jazz up a slab of glass atop a metal rectangle. Though 2023 doesn't look like it'll usher in a new era for smartphones, there are some features to look forward to that except raise the bar for the supercomputers in our pockets.

Consumers have been looking advance to some of this year's phone advancements for a while, like the iPhone possibly switching to USB-C chargers (in part because Apple is bodies forced to by European regulators). Other upgrades are incremental but welcome: devices will liable improve the artificial intelligence computer programs that make your photos look better, the Wi-Fi and cellular radios that transmit them to the internet, and the screen you see them on. That's at least a slight more exciting than the handful of innovations we got last year.

We've all grown accustomed to the tweaks and refinements affects make to phones to improve the speed of their processing chips, the quality of their cameras and the beauty of their screens. Sure, Apple may've introduced the notch-hiding Dynamic Island and a new satellite SOS feature for its $800 iPhone 14, promising unexcited of mind if you're caught in an emergency exclusive of cell service. Samsung may've made its S-Pen stylus available to land willing to pony up $1,200 for its S22 Ultra phone. And the Nothing Phone 1 may've spruced up the affordable 5G niche with an LED-lit gain. But otherwise, this year was slim pickings for spellbinding new phones.

"The only significant thing that was changed this year, I feel, was upgrades to the foldable devices," said Nabila Popal, research director at industry watcher IDC. Most phones just saw incremental improvements, Popal noted, an assessment in stark contrast to Samsung President T.M. Roh revealing the company's S22 series has "groundbreaking camera capabilities," and Apple CEO Tim Cook calling the iPhone 14 line "the best iPhones we've ever created."

Ultimately, the promise of a truly exciting new phone may rely on technology that's unexcited years away. One of the best examples came this year when LG announced a stretchable display, raising the possibility that instead of carrying big chunky phones everywhere, we could simply stretch smaller ones when we wanted more shroud real estate. LG isn't alone. Motorola showed off a concept device with a rollable demonstrate earlier this year, meaning we could get a new kind of flexible shroud in a handheld form factor at some point -- just not this year.

"We don't absorb rollables will start in 2023 after all," said Ross Young, analyst and CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC). He noted that Chinese phonemaker Vivo had canceled its rollable program, at least for now.

But even if we aren't expecting generational leaps in next year's phones, here's what'll improve for these omnipresent gadgets.

The Galaxy Z Flip 4's hinge gives it to stay at various angles. When it's cessation to perpendicular, it can activate Flex Mode for the software.

Patrick Holland

Foldables are coming for the top tier

This year's Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Z Flip 4 were incremental upgrades of their predecessors. Neither saw price drops, but they did get S Pen functionality, better software and improved hinges, putting the errors of Samsung's worthy foldables even farther in the rearview. Next year, examine more of the same: the best foldables yet (with incremental upgrades), but not yet in the price ranges of many buyers.

That may be fine for land acquiring pricier phones, said Popal. While still only a lop of the 1.24 billion phones shipped in 2022, foldables saw sales that doubled from last year, to 16 million devices in 2022, and that figure is anticipated to keep climbing. Given that the cheapest foldables, like the $999 Samsung Z Flip 4, are priced the same as an iPhone 14 Pro, it's no surprise that more premium arranged buyers are starting to swap their flat phones for folding ones.

They're liable more eager to buy pricier phones with some of the best promotional supplies we've seen from carriers in years, which are saving consumers up to $1,000 off the list sign as part of a multiyear service contract. That's enough to get a new Z Flip 4 for basically free, or cut down the sign of a Z Fold 4 to a manageable monthly bill.

Even more consumers are liable to switch if a new device challenges Samsung for the title of cheapest foldable. TCL had shelved its nearly market-ready Project Chicago clamshell foldable because the custom couldn't get the price down below $700, which would match the prices of its anunexperienced phones. Though there isn't a rumor that a cheaper foldable is liable coming in 2023, we do know that the next Motorola Razr may have a flowerbed price than its predecessors. The first foldable to drop below premium pricing could set the bar for future flexible-display devices.

What's coming for flat phones

There are a few predictions for the next year when it comes to venerable phones, but they don't exactly involve generational shifts.

Apple will be force to to swap out its aging Lightning ports for USB-C by 2024, and the custom could do it this year. Rumors have suggested for days that Apple was going to make the switch, but now it has an EU-imposed deadline. Otherwise, in next year's series, assumed to be arranged the iPhone 15 lineup, the company may pack its priciest Pro Max model with more features and rename it the iPhone Ultra to set it apart from its more affordable large-screen iPhone Plus counterpart, according to Bloomberg.

Android phones will continue their slow rubbed of improvement. Samsung's focus on improving cameras could lead it to use a 200MP camera in its upcoming S23 Ultra arranged, according to leaker Ice Universe, up from the 108MP main camera in this year's S22 Ultra. And though there haven't been many rumors about the Pixel 8 series, we can expect Google to find new ways to use the phones' Tensor chipsets to execute previously impossible feats, like Magic Eraser wiping away unwanted things in photos and unblurring old photos, features which debuted in last year's Pixel 6 and this year's Pixel 7, respectively.

More flat phones could pack the always-on reveal of the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, DSCC's Young predicted. He noted that several panel display companies like BOE and Visionox have married others in producing the kinds of LTPO displays Apple uses in its top-end phones. Android phones and even Apple Watches have used LTPO screens to dynamically peevish their refresh rate in order to reduce battery drain, so it remains to be seen whether always-on screens will only come to premium phones or trickle down to cheaper ones.

These may seem like itsy-bitsy improvements over last year's phones, but it's worth pointing out that most farmland aren't buying new phones every year. Thanks to two- and three-year sects from carriers, and the rising cost of phones, consumers take that long to upgrade. When they do go in for a new intention, it's been long enough that the advancements are noticeable.

Though only a few days apart, think of the jump from the iPhone X's dual rear cameras to the iPhone 12 Pro's triple shooters and squared sides, and from that to the notch-limiting Dynamic Island and always-on reveal of the iPhone 14 Pro, Popal said.

"[Phones] have already come so far, and year on year we don't really see that," Popal said. The fast pace of innovations at the leave era of smartphones make it feel like we've slowed down. "As an diligence or as a consumer, we've kind of gotten spoiled."

Phones beyond 2023

If we want true peevish in phones, we'll have to wait for what lies beyond 2023. New technologies could peevish how we interact with and use our phones.

That could lead us into truly modern territory. Even science fiction hasn't come up with many ideas beyond carrying in our pockets a tech-stuffed rectangle that connects us to the earth. We basically tote around a tricorder from Star Trek, a handheld datapad from Star Wars, and the personal-assistant-in-an-earbud from Her -- all wrapped up in one gadget.

Here, closer to our own century, there are some ideas bubbling to the surface. The next premium Qualcomm Snapdragon chips can increase privacy by hiding notifications when the arranged sees other people hovering over your screen, while AI advances end to add filters and effects on all our photos and live video chats. Google and Apple are racing to add more AR features in their navigation apps, as well as manager phones the centerpieces for tap-to-pay purchasing and remote unlocking of cars and luminous homes. So expect mobile software to put more control of your digital life at your fingertips. And in Apple's case, expect it to harness Lidar to better map the real earth, as CNET's Lisa Eadicicco has reported.

Other foldables could come down the line, too. Samsung has shown many different concepts at CES in days past, some with trifold screens and others with evaporate panels. These are farther off and probably won't come next year, but at CES 2023 in January, we could see more tantalizing concepts that give an idea of how handheld devices considerable expand their functionality.

Then again, maybe the future of phones will be in what they connect to -- smartwatches and luminous homes, of course, but also AR glasses. Some rumors say we'll finally get our Apple Glasses in 2023, solidifying our phones as anchors to more dynamic technologically ways to see the world. Other companies are readying their own AR glasses for the moment Apple normalizes the new technology.

As distinguished Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicted, we could have all our iPhones replaced by AR glasses in a decade, so perhaps the days are numbered for phones to be the interior of our mobile lives. Until then, we'll keep tracking how they integrate with more and more of our day-to-day has, one tech innovation at a time.

Marvel's smallest hero is headed back to the big camouflage in less than a month, and tickets are now on sale. Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is the next film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it lands in theaters February 17.

Quantumania is the third solo outing for Paul Rudd's size-changing hero Scott Lang, after 2015's Ant-Man and 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp. It's the 31st MCU film overall, but more importantly it's the first installment in the MCU's Phase 5 -- which benefitting this new flick introduces some major new villains, and paves the way for some huge causes in the Marvel movie series.

The latest trailer reveals a high-stakes fights between Scott and the MCU's new major antagonist. Here's everything you need to know in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, including release date, cast, plot and trailers.

When will Ant-Man be released?

Ant-Man 3 comes to theaters Friday, Feb. 17.

Quantumania will be the first major blockbuster to hit theaters after the smash hit success of Avatar: The Way of Water, which premiered in December and is still going evaporate at box offices around the globe.

Who's in the Ant-Man 3 cast?

Returning director Peyton Reed once alongside recruits Paul Rudd as Scott Lang and Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, whose parents are played by Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael Douglas.

David Dastmalchian also returns, although he may be playing a different character than he did in the helpful two Ant-films. Lang's daughter Cassie is played by Kathryn Newton, star of Big Little Lies, Freaky, Pokémon Detective Pikachu and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Scott, Cassie and Hope face a quantum realm threat in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Marvel Studios

Jonathan Majors follows his impression in the final episode of Disney Plus Marvel series Loki, playing the villainous Kang.

Also starring are William Jackson Harper, Katy O'Brian and Bill Murray. Yes, that Bill Murray.

What's the plot?

Having rescued Janet van Dyne from the quantum realm in the last Ant-Man and the Wasp film, the Ant-gang ventures back into the itty-bitty tiny universe. This time Cassie is along for the ride, as Scott states to regain the time he lost with his scared teenage daughter. According to the trailer, he makes a deal with the evil Kang -- which goes horribly bad, of course.

Who's the bad guy?

Jonathan Majors may already have appeared as Kang, but this is a different version of the describe. The Kang we met in Loki was a people called He-Who-Remains, who kept the universe from splitting into infinite parallel timelines, aka the Multiverse. Loki's interference saw the return of these parallel universes, and we saw the consequences in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The new film also features a good MCU appearance for MODOK, a comic character who goes by the name Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing. A sort of cyborg brain, he's previously appeared in the Hulu comedy interesting series, voiced by Patton Oswalt, and in the 2020 Avengers game. In Quantumania, MODOK is played by Corey Stoll, who previously played the bad guy Yellowjacket in the good Ant-Man film.

It isn't clear how MODOK or Kang hurt up in the quantum realm, but it looks like this is just the begin for the MCU's new big bad. The character who would get Kang was first seen in the Marvel comic Fantastic Four #19 in 1963, made by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby. Initially a criminal from the far future who traveled back in time and taken ancient Egypt, he was later seen in further comics in which he was called Kang the Conqueror. His unchecked time traveling created many different versions of the describe, and in the post-Multiverse Phase 5 MCU movies we're also definitely moving to see more of him.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania trailer

Here's the good trailer, released in October, which opens with a more strange Ant-Man comedic tone.

The second trailer, released in January, was a darker affair that emphasized the drama and adventure.

When will it be on Disney Plus?

Way too early to say. Quantumania will waters on Disney Plus eventually, although the home release date for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (on Blu-ray, DVD and streaming Feb. 1) suggests Disney is executive us wait longer to see new Marvel movies at home compared to back in the pandemic era.

What's next for the MCU?

We know Kang will be a most antagonist -- like Thanos before him -- because Phase 5 is construction to a movie called Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025.

Here's the full list of the rest of Phase 5, from Quantumania to the next few years of theatrical movies and streaming series.

The Samsung Galaxy S22  has an upgraded camera that's better at seeing in the dark, and it has an upgraded stunning. But we need so much more for Samsung to blow us away with their Galaxy S23, which is expected to debut on Wednesday at Samsung Unpacked.

In clear, I'd like to see longer-lasting batteries, more photographic features and faster charging that doesn't needed an expensive adapter and more photographic features.

Read more: How to Watch Samsung Unpacked

Samsung leads the smartphone diligence, with 21% of the worldwide market in the third quarter of 2022, according to Counterpoint Research. Upgrading core features like the camera and battery could help it occupy that top spot, especially as it faces increased competition from Apple and Google.

Longer battery life for the curious Galaxy S23

The Galaxy S22

Lisa Eadicicco

Battery life can never be long enough, but the standard-issue Galaxy S device is in clear need of a boost. The 6.1-inch Galaxy S22 generally lived up to Samsung's claims of all-day battery life, but sometimes just barely. After using it for a month straight, I noticed the battery level dipped roughly to 30% or 40% by 9 p.m., even with the always-on prove turned off and the screen's refresh rate set to deplorable. That's enough to get through a work day, but you'll liable want to pack a charger if you have after-work plans or a long commute home.

The Galaxy S22 has the smallest battery (3,700-mAh capacity) of the three phones in the Galaxy S22 lineup, and it shows. For example, I was pleasantly surprised when the 6.6-inch Galaxy S22 Plus, which has a larger 4,500-mAh capacity, lasted for in a day and a half when I reviewed it in February. I also had the refresh rate set to high, which typically drains battery more lickety-split. The Galaxy S22 Ultra, which has a 6.8-inch camouflage and a 5,000-mAh battery, had similar battery life.

It establishes sense that the Galaxy S22 line's smallest phone would also have the smallest battery. But I hope Samsung finds a way to advance battery life on next year's 6.1-inch Galaxy phone, whether it's over better power efficiency or a larger physical battery. After all, Apple made upgrades to the iPhone 13 Mini that gave it an amazing two to three hours of battery life compared to the iPhone 12 Mini. Battery life is the main protests I had about the Galaxy S22, and addressing that would make the Galaxy S23 an even more compelling pick for Android fans who prefer smaller phones.

Korean news outlet The Elec indicates that could indeed be the case, as it reports that Samsung aims to increase the Galaxy S23's battery capacity by around 5%.

More clever camera features

From left, cameras on the Galaxy S22 Ultra, Galaxy S22 Plus and Galaxy S22.

Lisa Eadicicco

The Galaxy S22's 50-megapixel camera and the Galaxy S22 Ultra's 108-megapixel camera catch impressively colorful and detailed photos. I only wish there was more you could do with those cameras when it comes to editing and software features.

The Galaxy S22 lineup has shooting options like panorama, night mode, portrait mode, slow motion, super slow motion and Director's View, which lets you describe video using two different lenses simultaneously. Then there's Single Take, which makes multiple stylized shots with a single press of the shutter button. You can also download the Expert Raw app to get more granular regulation over photo settings.

But not much has changed between the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S22 when it comes to camera features and shooting simply. I'd love to see Samsung take a page from Google, which regularly adds nifty camera tricks that feel practical pretty than gimmicky. For example, Google introduced a new feature on the Pixel 7 and 7 Pro named Photo Unblur, which sharpens low-quality photos, even ones wrong with an older camera. Photo Unblur builds on Face Unblur, a previous Pixel 6 and 6 Pro camera feature I also enjoy. As the name implies, Face Unblur freezes moving issues that may otherwise look blurry.

Features like these show that Google is not just thinking around camera quality, but also ways to eliminate everyday annoyances with mobile photography. Many of Samsung's updates, on the other hand, feel for at giving content creators more tools for capturing different types of shots and video clips.

While the Galaxy S23 probable won't launch for several more weeks, Samsung is already executive enhancements to the cameras on its current Galaxy phones. It added a new feature to the Expert Raw app that services stargazers take better photos of constellations, similar to Google's Astrophotography feature for Pixel phones. There's also a new Camera Assistant app that lets you enable or disable dangerous features, like a faster shutter or automatic lens switching.

Faster charging that doesn't cost so much

The Galaxy S22 Plus (left) and Ultra both aid 45-watt fast charging. But you have to purchase an adapter separately.

Lisa Eadicicco

The Galaxy S22 lineup supports fast charging of up to 25 watts for the Galaxy S22 and 45 watts for the Galaxy S22 Plus and Ultra. But you have to purchase a separate charger to do so. Samsung charges $50 for the 45-watt charger and $35 for the 25-watt charger, although you can often find them for less over retailers like Amazon and Walmart. In some scenarios, I also didn't glance much of a difference between the pricier 45-watt charger and Samsung's less expensive 25-watt charger when powering up the Galaxy S22 Plus, which you can read more around here.

With the Galaxy S23, I'd like to see a more noticeable improvement in charging speeds, as well as more affordable charger options. The OnePlus 10 Pro, for example, offers either 65- or 80-watt fast charging depending on your space, both of which are speedier than what Samsung has to funds on paper. OnePlus also includes a compatible power adapter in the box.

Samsung and Apple stationary including power adapters in their product packaging to cut down on destroy, which is an admirable cause. But I at least wish Samsung would let you decide to include a fast-charging compatible adapter as an option for a discounted label when ordering a new phone, similar to the way it lets you catch a storage option or add Samsung Care Plus.
